Advanced
Safe and Defensive Driving Course:
For Drivers of Emergency and Public
Transport Vehicles
AIM
To educate, train and create awareness in the participants concerning
correct and safe driving behaviour when transporting passengers to
be protected, or when driving emergency vehicles.
TARGET POPULATION
The course is aimed at all drivers of public and private vehicles
who for business reasons need to drive emergency vehicles (ambulances,
police or fire department vehicles, first aid vehicles, public transport
buses, etc.). In particular, it is aimed at drivers of:
- vehicles (buses) used to transport people (children, sports groups,
adults, etc.)
- military and fire fighting vehicles
- ambulances
WHERE
The course is held at the track of the Safe
Driving Centre & Skid Control School at Osogna in
the Canton of Ticino, Switzerland, or elsewhere under specific
agreements.
COURSE DURATION
The course lasts 1 day, unless agreed otherwise to satisfy different
requirements.
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS
The course is normally held for 4-12 participants, unless agreed otherwise
to satisfy different requirements.
COURSE CONTENT
The course will develop in the classroom the concepts of safe driving
and techniques ensuring control of the vehicle under particularly difficult
conditions, with frequent alternation of practical tests on the track
including: correct position at the steering wheel, how to avoid unexpected
obstacles, how to brake in various conditions, how to control various
types of skidding on a dry, wet, snow-covered or frozen road surface.
VEHICLES FOR THE PRACTICAL EXERCISES
The practical exercises on the track are conducted using both vehicles
provided by the Centre and the participants’ service vehicles.
INSTRUCTORS
The course is taught by trained instructors with tested professional
experience.
ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE
At the end of the course, an attendance certificate will be issued
bearing the participant’s name.
COST
To be determined depending on the number of participants and any vehicles
rented from our Driving Centre, and the place where the course will be held.
